Creating a Simple Candle Ritual
A candle ritual does not need to be elaborate. With a few quiet minutes and a clear intention, lighting a candle can become a gentle cue to slow down and reconnect with yourself.
1. Set the space
Choose a comfortable spot, put away distractions, and place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Trim the wick to ¼ inch, then light it with intention.
2. Pause and breathe
Take three slow breaths. As the fragrance begins to fill the room, choose a simple intention for the moment: rest, gratitude, clarity, or calm.
3. Close with care
When you are ready, gently extinguish the flame and carry your intention into the rest of your day. Even five mindful minutes can turn an ordinary pause into a meaningful ritual.
Light. Breathe. Be present.
Safety note: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep it away from drafts and anything flammable, and follow the candle maker’s burn instructions.
